UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE
Samuel James Dengel currently holds the title of Officer with the United States Merchant Marines. Dengel graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in New York earning his degree and numerous other achievements. These achievements include:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Engineering
- U.S. Coast Guard 3rd Assistant Engineer's License
- Commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy Reserve
Since graduating from USMMA, Samuel James Dengel has remained motivated in continuing along this path. He has recently applied to the Marine Engineers' Beneficial Association and is eager to expand his experience and future career goals.
VOLUNTEERING AND SERVICE
Beyond his work with the U.S. Merchant Marines, Samuel James Dengel is also an active member and volunteer in his community. At the age of 14, Dengel completed training as an Eagle Scout and was honored as a member of the Order of the Arrow. While an Eagle Scout, Samuel Dengel completed a leadership service project where he helped develop a database for U.S. veterans.
Additionally, Samuel Dengel is a volunteer for Senator Menendez's service academy interview team. He also teaches summer courses at SUNY Maritime College as well as Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
Travel
Through his time as an Eagle Scout and U.S. Merchant Marine, Samuel James Dengel has had the opportunity to travel all around the world to many beautiful ports and cities. Some of his favorite places he has traveled to so far include:
- Dublin, Ireland
- Malaga, Spain
- Lisbon, Portugal
- San Juan, Puerto Rico
- Cape Town, South Africa
Traveling the globe has given Samuel James Dengel many new perspectives about the world around him. He has met many interesting people and learned about their history and culture. He is eager to continue his travels to learn more about himself as well as the world he lives in.
